The story takes place ten years in the future. A character called Rex was corrupted and mutated, and then became the Cobra Commander. Destro, notorious arms dealer, needed the Cobra Commander to help him form an army of supersoldiers. That is when G.I. Joe, a special military unit, reacted against this evil organization.
