This movie is based on a best-selling fantasy-adventure children series, which is Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". To be more precise, the movie is based on the first book of the series titled The Lightning Thief. The movie is directed by Chris Colombus, director of Home Alone, Harry Potter and the sorcerer stone, and Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets. The screenplay based on the novel is made by Craig Titley, and the soundtrack of the movie is made by Christophe Beck aka Chris Beck, who also worked on famous movies such as bring it on (2000), American wedding (2003), waiting for Superman (2010), and the TV series Buffy the vampire slayer for which he won an Emmy Award.
In the 21st century, there is a major crisis between the gods of Mount Olympus also known as the Olympians. They're unhappy because Zeus(Sean Bean)' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman), a high school student who will later discover that he is the son of Poseidon, is their main suspect. Because of this whole missunderstanding, the newly discovered demigod (Percy Jackson) will have to search for the missing thunderbolt and give it back to its owner in order to prove his innocence. He will have to face many great dangers, and he will even be attacked by monsters such as Medusa (Uma Thurman). The gods appearing in the movie include: Aphrodite (Serinda Swan), Apollo (Dimitri Lekkos), Ares, Artemis (Ona Grauer), Athena (Melina Kanakaredes), Demeter (Stefanie Von Pfetten), Hades (Steve Coogan), Hephaestus (Conrad Coates), Hera (Erica Cerra), Hermes (Dylan Neal), Hestia, Persephone (Rosario Dawson), Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), Zeus (Sean Bean).
Also, Percy's mother, Sally Jackson (Catherine Keener), disappears mysteriously. Having to face multiple problems at once, he will engage himself in a thrilling adventure with his friends, looking for his missing mother, and trying to find the true lightning thief and give the lightning bolt back to Zeus in order to take all accusations off him and most-importantly in order to prevent an upcoming war between the Olympians.
